Natalie Boyle has a fateful visit to her friend Annie’s hospital room and makes a promise to send the nanny she no longer needs (as she is recovered from her own health crises) to take care of Annie’s two young kids. She begins a crowdfunding campaign to pay for two weeks of childcare for Annie and says she will provide as much care as she can fundraise for. As the money comes in quickly, she realizes that this is destined to be something more and begins the process of creating a non-profit organization.
Natalie recruits a few friends to be on the first board of directors for this new non-profit, Mommies In Need. Natalie Boyle is the Board Chair/President, Kristin Evans is the Treasurer and Tracy Jager is the Secretary. (Kathy Bennett joined a few months later but is considered a member of the founding board.)
